Everton Fight Back to Draw 3–3 with Manchester City

Manchester City were forced to settle for a dramatic 3-3 draw against Everton in a Premier League thriller at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, a result that left Pep Guardiola’s side frustrated in the closing stages of the title race.

City appeared to be in control early on, with winger Jeremy Doku giving the visitors a bright start. The Belgian international struck twice across the contest, including a late equaliser in the 97th minute that salvaged a point for the reigning champions after a chaotic second half.

Despite their attacking dominance in spells, City were punished for missed chances. Everton grew into the match at home, responding with two goals of their own and taking advantage of defensive lapses to keep themselves firmly in contention throughout the contest.

The draw proved costly for City in the Premier League standings, as they now trail leaders Arsenal by five points, albeit having played one game fewer than the North London side. With only a handful of matches remaining in the 2025–2026 season, Guardiola’s team have little margin for error in the title chase.

Speaking after the match in an interview, Doku admitted City failed to fully capitalise on their early momentum.

“First half we played well and created a lot of chances. We know if we don’t score those chances it is going to get difficult at the end.

Obviously, they are at their own stadium, they create chances, and they are dangerous, and they scored two goals, but I think we gave them the game. Good that we came back because one point is not bad in games like this.”

Manager Pep Guardiola will now turn his attention to City’s next fixture against Brentford on Saturday, May 9, with pressure mounting as the title race enters its decisive phase.
