Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has pleaded not guilty to two new counts of rape, bringing the total number of rape allegations against him to seven since legal proceedings against him began.
Partey, 32, appeared at Southwark Crown Court in England on Monday, April 13, 2026, where he denied raping a woman in London on two occasions in December 2020. He spoke only to confirm his name and enter the not guilty pleas during the hearing.
The new charges add to five other counts of rape and one count of sexual assault that Partey was charged with in July of last year, relating to allegations dating back to 2021 and 2022, all involving four women in total.
He has pleaded not guilty to those charges as well. Judge Tony Baumgartner, the Recorder of Westminster, agreed on Monday that all of the allegations would be tried together.
Partey did not attend the earlier hearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court when the original charges were first brought before a judge, though his lawyer indicated at the time that not guilty pleas would be entered on his behalf.
The trial, originally scheduled for November this year, is now expected to be delayed because of the additional allegations, with proceedings likely pushed back to January 2027, according to the BBC. Partey is next due in court for a pre-trial hearing on May 14.
Partey remains on bail throughout the legal proceedings, under conditions that include a requirement to inform police of any international travel and a prohibition on contacting the alleged victims.
The midfielder joined Arsenal from Atletico Madrid in 2020 in a deal worth approximately £45 million. He left the club last June after a five-year spell and signed with Villarreal in Spain on a free transfer. He is expected to represent Ghana at the World Cup this summer.
