India defeated Bangladesh by 41 runs in the Asia Cup 2025 Super Four stage at Dubai International Stadium, securing their place in the final despite a spirited fightback from Bangladesh in the middle overs.
Abhishek Sharma was the standout performer with the bat, smashing 75 off just 37 balls to set the tone for India’s innings. He and Shubman Gill put on a 77-run opening partnership in just over six overs, attacking Bangladesh’s bowling from the first ball.
Hardik Pandya contributed 38 off 29 to help India post 168/6, though Bangladesh’s bowling unit led by Rishad Hossain’s 2/27 and Tanzim Hasan Sakib’s 1/29 did enough in the middle overs to prevent India from pushing beyond 200.
Bangladesh’s chase never gained traction. Jasprit Bumrah applied immediate pressure with two early wickets, and Kuldeep Yadav’s wrist spin proved the decisive blow in the middle overs, finishing with figures of 3/18. Varun Chakaravarthy chipped in with 2/29 as Bangladesh were bowled out for 127.
Saif Hassan provided the only real resistance, scoring 69 off 51 balls, but lacked consistent support from his teammates. Bangladesh’s lower order once again failed to hold firm when it mattered, a recurring issue for the side in major tournaments.
Shubman Gill continued his strong run of form, having already scored an unbeaten century against Bangladesh in the ICC Champions Trophy earlier this year. India’s management is increasingly building their batting lineup around the 25-year-old across all formats.
The result underlined India’s growing squad depth. Even with younger players featuring prominently, India still produced elite fast bowling, world-class spin, and explosive batting throughout the match, a combination that continues to separate them from most international sides.
For Bangladesh, the series offered both encouragement and familiar frustration. Players like Rishad Hossain, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, and Saif Hassan showed real promise, but the team’s inability to sustain pressure across a full match against top opposition remains the defining gap in their development.

India advance to the Asia Cup final. Bangladesh head home with plenty to reflect on but also enough glimpses of talent to suggest the rivalry with India will only grow more competitive in the years ahead.
