Burlington Man Charged After Threats Made Against Ontario Environment Minister Todd McCarthy

Police have charged a Burlington man following an investigation into threats directed at Todd McCarthy, Ontario’s Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks. The OPP says the investigation began on July 8, the same day McCarthy cancelled a scheduled press conference in Brampton.

According to police, a 40-year-old man from Burlington was arrested in connection with the alleged threats.

The OPP has identified him as Erik Adler, 40, who now faces two counts of uttering threats to cause death. He was released from custody after a bail hearing and is set to appear in court in Milton on August 11.

The incident comes in the same week Peel Regional Police charged another man after threats were made against Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown.
