10 Injured in Shooting Near Arcadia Lake Campground in Oklahoma

At least 10 people were injured in a shooting during a “Sunday Funday” gathering at Lake Arcadia in Oklahoma on Sunday night, prompting a massive emergency response as authorities launched a manhunt for the suspects.

Police said two men wearing ski masks reportedly opened fire during the event, which was attended by large numbers of young adults at the Scissortail Campground near Arcadia Lake.

Emergency crews, including officers in tactical gear, swarmed the campground at around 9 p.m. following multiple reports of gunfire.

At least 10 attendees were taken to hospital for treatment, while several others transported themselves to nearby medical facilities. One victim reportedly drove to a nearby gas station to seek help.

“This is obviously a very terrifying situation,” Edmond Police spokesperson Emily Ward said, adding: “We are working extremely hard to find the suspects.”

The conditions of the victims were not immediately known as of Monday morning.

Authorities said no suspects were in custody, though investigators are reviewing footage from Flock license plate reader cameras as part of efforts to identify those responsible.

Police earlier told local outlet KFOR that the initial shots-fired calls appeared to originate from the Caddo Pavilion area of the campground.

When officers arrived, they found four people suffering from gunshot wounds inside a vehicle near East 15th Street and Timberlake Avenue.

Witnesses described scenes of panic and confusion as gunfire erupted.

One woman at the scene told reporters that both her cousin and sister had been shot.

Another victim said he had been shot in the leg but was otherwise doing okay.

“It’s very sad to see someone that you know or that you love. It’s a very scary, hard thing,” one witness said.

Several people at the scene reported hearing more than 30 shots fired.

Videos posted online showed ambulances, police cruisers and state troopers in full tactical gear responding to the campground as authorities worked to secure the area.

Agencies responding included Oklahoma City Police, Edmond Police, the Edmond Fire Department and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

A photo shared online appeared to show a white sedan marked with red streaks along its side that appeared to be blood.

The event had drawn a large crowd of young adults to the campground for what organizers promoted as a night of “good vibes, good people, food and drinks” with music scheduled from 6 p.m. through midnight Monday.

Police said they had not yet determined whether the gathering was connected to a specific celebration.

Ward said most of those attending were believed to be young adults or older teenagers, and officials do not believe any children were present when the shooting occurred.

Videos circulating on social media showed large crowds dancing under the pavilion where investigators believe the shooting began.

Police said they do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public.

“We are going to be investigating into tomorrow,” Ward said.
